It looks like 2014 could be a great year for apprenticeships. In a recent blog for Huffington Post, Skills Minister Matthew Hancock shares his top ten apprenticeship highlights of 2013.
1) The Queen highlights importance of further education in her annual speech.
2) Apprenticeship reforms are announced in October, which aim to change the way apprenticeships are delivered.
3) National Apprenticeship Week.
4) Higher apprentices valued “most employable” young people by employers.
5) The shift to encourage small and medium sized businesses to hire apprentices.
6) Apprenticeship Awards celebrated top apprentices and employers across a range of industries.
7) Traineeships are rolled out to prepare young people for apprenticeships or employment.
8) Trailblazers are introduced to focus on particular sectors in order to combat skills shortages.
9) New Apprenticeship vacancies feed launched.
10) Skills Minister swaps jobs with an apprentice to gain a first-hand experience.
