Chelsea Foundation opens apprentice applications

The Chelsea Foundation, Leadership Through Sport and Business (LTSB) and Westminster Kingsway College are collaborating to offer a new accounting apprentice scheme at Chelsea Football Club.

Students will undertake a 16-month apprenticeship scheme to begin in September; the course will combine an FA level 1 qualification, leadership skills, and enrichment activities with academic study it also includes a paid work placement in the City.

The Chelsea Foundation will take 20 apprentices with LTSB to study for an AAT accredited accounting qualification in partnership with Westminster Kingsway College.

Football coaching will be used to develop leadership and mentoring skills – to equip them with the ability to be future community, sport and business leaders.

Further education curriculum manager at the Chelsea Foundation, Louise Marriott said, “We are delighted to continue to follow our three principles of excellence, innovation and community with this superb apprenticeship.

This apprenticeship offers a rare opportunity for young people to succeed in a competitive sector with Leadership Through Sport and Business’ innovative approach to supporting each individual on their journey to successful completion and a career through a comprehensive leadership development plan.”

The majority of candidates will receive a full time role on the completion of the course through work placement schemes and the network of City employers that work with the LTSB.

Applications for the course are currently open; candidates interested should contact the Chelsea Foundation and there will be an open day for the apprentices on Wednesday 27th May at Stamford Bridge.
