SQA produces first ‘UK wide’ apprenticeship guide

Leading awarding body SQA has produced a ‘first of its kind’ apprenticeship guide for employers and training providers.

The UK-wide apprenticeship guide was produced in direct response to requests from industry on how changes to apprenticeships differ across the four home nations.

Each of the four home nations continues to have different administrative arrangements for apprenticeships funding, making it a complex landscape for employers to navigate. With different regulatory bodies, funding agencies and qualification structures it can be challenging to keep up to date with these changes.

Continuing reforms and the introduction of the apprenticeship levy in May has encouraged a greater focus on skills with employers keen to capitalise on opportunities arising from the new system.

SQA responds to apprenticeship challenge

In response, SQA has developed a Guide to Apprenticeships in the UK to help employers better understand the differences in apprenticeship policy across the UK nations.

The interactive guide aims to consolidate this information making it accessible for both training providers and employers, especially those operating cross-border. It also contains useful links to further reading and information.

The guide to apprenticeships and the introduction of the levy is the latest in a comprehensive suite of useful resources produced by SQA, aimed at supporting employers to navigate the changing education and skills landscape across the UK.
