CIPFA announces apprenticeship push

The Chartered Institute of Public Finance (CIPFA) has become the latest professional body to gain accreditation with the Education and Skills Funding Agency (ESFA) to provide apprenticeships. The move comes after CIPFA announced it will launch schemes in the autumn offering finance training.

Giles Orr, director of learning delivery and partnership at CIPFA, said: “Right across the public sector we are seeing tremendous changes in the way services are delivered and in order to meet these challenges it is vital the right people, with the right skills, are in place – particularly when it comes to managing finances.

“The apprenticeship levy demonstrates that the government is serious about nurturing the next generation of public sector professionals and ensuring we are not left with a skills gap.”

As part of CIPFA’s outreach programme, the institute will host an open day on the 15 June, which will help public sector bodies understand their apprenticeship requirements and will provide an introduction to CIPFA’s apprenticeships offer.
