Evercom apprentice lands permanent job

Working with Just IT, Evercom  hired 18-year-old Josh Hakki as an apprentice on their helpdesk, supporting customers by troubleshooting their technical issues. He has since been offered a permanent job and salary.

At first, Evercom’s Director of Business Development, Simon Antoniou, worried about how well Josh would integrate into the team as an apprentice. He said: “We were interested in the idea of a fresh approach to our recruitment strategy, but it meant testing ourselves as we’d never trained a staff member in this way before, and we couldn’t be sure about how quickly a young person would adapt. We got very lucky with Josh as his ability towards self-learning is admirable, he has a great grasp of common sense and shows a level of maturity that rivals candidates several years his senior.”

Josh said:  “The experience was invaluable compared to the pieces of paper that you get at university.”
