DB Schenker welcomes “largest intake” of apprentices

Global logistics provider Schenker Limited has hired an additional 13 apprentices after the success of its previous three groups.

The new group will be based from a range of locations across the UK and will undertake a two-year-long apprenticeship. Apprentices will take up roles within the company, attend internal DB Schenker training courses, visit other branches, working in different disciplines to their own and undertake a business improvement project. Each apprentice is expected to identify an area of the business which they think can be improved and make suggestions about how this can be achieved.

Schenker Limited CEO, Helgi Ingolfsson says: “When we talk about sustainability, for me it means the long term vision of the company, therefore, it is vital that we have a platform to encourage young people to get into logistics. I am also really pleased that this is our largest intake and we have included warehouse positions as well this year. The apprentice programme is of paramount importance to us, they are the future of our company and the logistics industry.”
