Apprentices provide employees with “valuable managerial experience”

Are you thinking about hiring an apprentice? Research has shown that apprentices motivate the workforce and increase productivity. Sharon Critchlow, Operations and compliance director at the Citimark Partnership in Bristol shares her experience below.

“We first hired an apprentice on a year-long basis and the experience proved so positive that we’ve subsequently brought two more on board with the view that they will stay with the firm long term.

“The apprenticeship council helps with recruitment, helping save on agency fees, and it gives practical support with training and education.

There are some intergenerational communication issues – I agree it might be quicker to text the back office at times. But hiring an apprentice can also give a wider boost to the firm. The more junior employees see just how much they have learnt and it gives them the chance to gain some valuable managerial experience.”
