Hiring apprentices has been “a positive experience”

Apprenticeship schemes can benefit the employer just as much as the apprentice themselves. Tony Larkins, Managing Director of Huntingdon-based Beacon Wealth Management, shares his experience of hiring an apprentice:

“The company is growing and, with expansion, you add more to the firm than just advisers and paraplanners. We needed admin at a more junior level and it made sense to bring someone in to do some of the simpler work while training them to engage with the more complex tasks further down the line.

Having our apprentice allows senior staff to concentrate on the specialist sides of their roles, and they will enjoy their own positions more if they are freed from some of the simpler admin.

It’s been a positive experience and something we would look to repeat in the future.”
