The apprentices meet MPs

We recently reported than a team of nine apprentices from Innovia Films had won the Brathay Appprenticeship Challenge. To celebrate their victory, the apprentices were invited to Westminster to meet Secretary of State for Business, Innovation and Skills, Vince Cable.

The team met other MPs and had a tour of the House of Common’s before engaging in a discussion about apprenticeships with director of the National Apprenticeship Service, David Way.

Business Secretary Vince Cable said: “Apprenticeships are for highly motivated young people who want to make a rewarding career through well-grounded training. The apprentices at Innovia Films are an inspiration to other young people and in raising £6,000 for charity they are a good example of what they can achieve, not just for their company, but also for the wider community. We want more young people to benefit from Apprenticeships. Any small or medium size company who takes on an apprentice aged 16-24 will receive a £1,500 incentive from the Government.”
