Harnessing the talent of budding filmmakers

17-year-old Thea Van Der Velde from Whitley Bay has won a place on the National Youth Film Academy (NYFA) apprenticeship scheme, it has been reported. The academy was set up to harness and develop the talents of budding filmmakers.

Thea will join with scheme with twenty other successful applicants.  The apprenticeship will last for a year and during this time the apprentices will work across four departments to gain a broad knowledge of the industry; PR and events, creative, and scripts and production.

Thea said: “I’m really glad that I could get the chance to join a work based apprenticeship where I could gain more skills and experience and also gaining a qualification in creative and digital media. The NYFA will help me to gain knowledge and experience in lots of different areas.”
