Ealing Council is backing apprenticeships in a new scheme to match up unemployed young people with small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the borough.

The plans are part of the Ealing Apprenticeship Network established earlier this year. Apprentices will be enrolled in various positions such as business administration and IT support, depending on their future career prospects. Ealing SMEs will be able to apply for up to GBP1,500 to cover training costs.

Council leader, Julian Bell, said: “We will have officers who can help you work out the logistics of hiring a young person, develop a job description and support you throughout the process. It doesn’t matter how big or small your business is or whether you’re looking for someone to help out with IT, merchandising or customer services, we can help find the perfect person for you.”
