Gateshead based learning provider Access Training has launched a new apprenticeship in social media. The decision follows response from businesses which showed that whilst they understood the importance of social media as a marketing tool, they lacked the talent to explore its full potential.

The Advanced Apprenticeship in Social Media and Digital Marketing will last 12-18 months and lead to a Level 3 Diploma in Social Media for Business. Apprentices will be fully educated in Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin, website design and search engine optimisation (SEO). Pictured is 21 year old Kate Veitch, the first person to enrol on the scheme.

Managing director of Access Training, Malcolm Armstrong said: “Social Media can be a very cost effective form of marketing if you know how to use it.  Most businesses are either already dabbling in it or are considering introducing it as a means of communicating with their customers. As a result, there is a requirement for businesses to recruit employees that are keen to work in this area and to develop these skills.”
