A Stafford teen who has been nominated for a regional business award has credited his apprenticeship training with his success.

Luke Hough, 18, landed a level 3 diploma in social media and digital marketing with apprenticeship provider 3AAA, together with on-the-job experience at Stafford-based recruitment firm PSR Solutions.

He is now in the running for the Apprentice of the Year title at the prestigious Stoke Sentinel Business Awards 2016. The category recognises the practical and theoretical progress young people make in training and in the workplace.

Spreading the message

Speaking to The Sentinel, Luke said: “My apprenticeship has given me a great insight into the industry and has helped me kick-start my career. I am really keen to learn and develop my skills. I think I have come a long way from working in the Co-op.

“I have also applied to be an apprentice ambassador, which is someone who talks to youngsters about the value of apprenticeships.”

Victoria Walker, academy manager at 3AAA, added: “Luke’s contribution in the workplace and in the academy has been second to none and it has been a pleasure working with him. I look forward to seeing all of the outstanding work he is going to achieve.”
