On 29th May, CareerPaths Online, in conjunction with Jasmine Scholars and Waltham Forest’s Business, Employment and Skills Unit , is holding a conference to address BME youth unemployment and to encourage diversity in apprenticeships.
The conference will discuss the issues faced by BME young people in finding employment and promote solutions which will:
- increase the number of apprentices from the BME communities
- encourage local employers in the London Borough of Waltham Forest and surrounding areas to recruit a more diverse workforce, particularly through apprenticeships
- help meet the challenges faced by the Skills Funding Agency in improving equality and diversity throughout the apprenticeship framework and find more effective ways of promoting apprenticeships to parents and school leavers from BME backgrounds.
