Nottingham City Council’s Apprentice Hub has announced that one thousand residents have now been helped into work through an apprentice scheme.
Nottingham’s Apprentice Hub was launched in May 2013 and works with local businesses to identify their specific needs and provide recruitment and funding. The 1,000 milestone has been reached three months ahead of its March 2015 target.
Councillor Nick McDonald, portfolio holder for jobs and skills, said: “To have hit our goal to help 1000 city residents into apprenticeships so far ahead of target is a great achievement. Helping young people into apprenticeships has huge benefits for residents, employers and our local economy.”
“Nottingham’s economy needs to tap into a young, talented and skilled workforce to grow, so the continued growth of apprenticeship initiatives in Nottingham is a key priority for the City Council.”
