A new study from Jobvite, the Social Recruiting Survey, has found that 93% of managers review a candidate’s social networks before making a hiring decision, meaning what you post on Facebook could be costing you a job.
55% have reconsidered a candidate based on what they find, with 61% of those reactions being negative. Respondents said the worst thing you can do is make references to illegal drugs, sexual posts or posts about alcohol. 66% of hiring managers said they were turned off by poor spelling and grammar.
So what can you learn from this survey? When applying for apprenticeships, be sure to check your Facebook privacy settings. Better yet, avoid posting things that could put off a potential employer.
