You’ll be up against some tough competition when applying for an apprenticeship, so standing out from the crowd is very important.
Here are some top tips to think about before you apply:
1. Research the industry you want to get in to. Can you see yourself building a career in this industry? Employers are looking for passionate people eager to get on to the career ladder.
2. Research the training provider and employer. Speak to previous apprentices to get a truthful opinion on what it was like for them.
3. Rather than send out loads of generic applications, tailor just a few applications to the companies you really want to work for.
4. Spell out exactly what you can bring to the role in your covering letter. If you have little work experience, draw on personal achievements, hobbies and characteristics which show off your abilities.
