As part of a new initiative set up by e-skills UK, organisations including BT, IBM, Capgemini and Atos will offer cyber security apprenticeships with the aim of filling 100 positions by summer.

Skills Minister Matthew Hancock has backed the scheme, saying that cyber security is an area of vital importance and businesses must make moves to ensure they are protected against online crime and sabotage.

Karen Price, CEO of e-skills UK, said: “I’m in no doubt that the apprenticeships will significantly help to widen access to the sector, by opening up opportunities to young people from a diverse range of backgrounds.”
