Graham Purvis, a partner with Newcastle-based accountancy firm Robson Laidler, is calling on employers to hire apprentices after witnessing the business benefits first-hand.

He said: “I started with the firm as a filing clerk in the tax department here and worked my way up through the departments. Working each job along the way you get to understand not only the process, but also how everything works which is hugely beneficial.”

“Many employers recognise the value of taking on apprentices who can learn the valuable skills they need for the job as they work, which, in turn, can provide a real boost for the economy. These latest figures show that apprenticeships are more popular than ever.”
