The National Skills Academy for IT, NITP, and BT have teamed up to create a further 135 apprenticeships, to add to the 300 apprentices who started in October 2012.
Additionally, a free guide for employers has been launched by The IT Skills Academy which aims to demystify the process of hiring an IT apprentice for the first time. The guide gives an overview of apprenticeships, outlines business benefits, incentives and the hiring process. It contains employer success stories, in-depth case studies and video interviews.
Patrick Beasley, Apprenticeships Project Director, National Skills Academy for IT, says: “IT apprenticeships give employers the chance to mould young people to their specific needs; to give them both technical and soft skills; and to recruit loyal and affordable new staff with a real desire to succeed.
But many employers aren’t aware that IT apprenticeships exist or think it’ll be too complex to hire one. We’re already starting to change that perception through our partnership with BT and NITP, and we aim to continue via this new guide.”
The guide can be viewed here. Print copies have been sent to businesses across England.
