New figures have revealed that those who have completed apprenticeships in Blackpool are more likely to be taken into employment then their peers. ICM Research recently did a study which showed that in the North West, apprentices are 9% more employable than those with different qualifications. Businesses rated those with higher apprenticeships the most employable.
Nineteen year old Abigail Hodgson knew at a young age she wanted to become an accountant and made moves to make it happen. She began a higher apprenticeship after her GCSEs, joining specialist accountancy and payroll service provider, Danbro. Abigail will complete her Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) programme in June and become a qualified accountant.
She said: “I would highly recommend the higher apprenticeship route to anybody who is certain about their career path. Apprenticeships are good for young people who want to be financially independent. I own my own car and enjoy a lifestyle that wouldn’t have been possible at my age if I’d gone to university plus I’m free from student debt.”
