Following a call for standardised training in the sector, recruitment will gain its own apprenticeship from March 1st. Although there are schemes already in place, the focus is quite broad and covers a range of skills. The new apprenticeship will provide skills and knowledge specific to the role.
The apprenticeship will be delivered in partnership between the Institute of Recruiters (IOR), awarding body Skillsfirst Awards and training provider Expedient. They, along with industry experts, believe that the new scheme will benefit the recruitment sector.
Azmat Mohammed, Director General of the IOR, says: “Not only will this dedicated apprenticeship ensure that new recruitment consultants are properly training for their role, but we are also hoping that it will reduce staff turnover within the industry. Research has shown that when new employees feel fully equipped and trained to carry out their job to a high standard, their motivation and commitment to their employers increases.”
