Haymarket Media Group has welcomed its first six full-time paid apprentices to its newly-launched Skills Academy.
The new apprenticeship scheme, part of the Haymarket Skills Academy, will combine the rigour of college education with the practical and technical skills required to forge a strong career in today’s media industry.
The apprenticeships reflect the changing nature of skills required in the media business, with an emphasis of digital areas such as digital marketing, SEO and UX design.
The one and two-year apprenticeships will be delivered in collaboration with training providers CreativeProcess, Lambeth College and see the apprentices spend an average of one day per week in off-the-job training, while also benefitting from the support of Haymarket’s market-leading Learning and Development team.
Kevin Costello, CEO, Haymarket Media Group said: “Our apprentices are joining us at a very exciting time for the company and the wider media industry. With so much change afoot, they will have the opportunity to develop the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in today’s dynamic media world. Our new Skills Academy will see us attract and develop our own digital-native talent and provide us with insight from the next generation of Haymarket audiences and clients.”
