Following on from the news that Bibby Financial services is to broaden out its apprenticeship offering, now telecoms giant O2 is to follow suit. The company has announced that it will offer 33 new vacancies on its established Apprenticeship programme.

O2 is expanding the apprenticeships it offers, and says it will be ‘offering a broader variety of roles for all those itching to earn a salary, train and develop their skills at the same time.”

According to the company, there are two streams open to applicants:

  • 23 apprenticeships in O2’s Slough HQ: for those that want to get to the heart of a digital business, there are a mixture of Advanced and Higher apprenticeships available across a variety of directorates, teams ranging from HR and procurement to IT and strategy are looking for budding apprentices to join their ranks. Programmes last between 18 months and two years, with all successful applicants gaining in-depth training designed to kickstart their career in digital.
  • 10 Guru in Store apprenticeships across the UK: For those young workers with a passion for the latest gadgets, the guru apprenticeship gives them the chance to turn their love of tech into a career by becoming one of O2’s in-store tech experts. 10 roles are available in stores across the country to train as an apprentice Guru – O2’s go-to tech specialists helping customers get the most out of their products. Guru apprenticeships last 18 months, with stores from Manchester and Sheffield to Birmingham and Oxford all on the hunt for candidates.

“Apprentices are brilliant, valuable additions to O2, bringing fresh perspectives, natural digital skills and unparalleled creativity to our teams,” said Ann Pickering, O2 HR Director. “We know they contribute an exceptional amount to our business, and that’s why we’ve expanded the scheme this year to take on our largest cohort of apprentices yet.

“You don’t need to have invented Facebook 2.0 to apply. What we’re looking for is the raw determination and positive attitude which we can help you harness to kick start your career. So whether you’re straight out of school or coming to the end of college or university, just show us your passion and enthusiasm for the digital world.”
