Tech Week to launch in July

The Tech Partnership has announced the dates for this year’s Tech Week, the event that will see organisations opening their doors to schools, colleges and universities – reaching out to thousands of young people in order to help inspire a new generation achieve their potential in the digital world.

It will take place the week commencing 4 July, and will see a range of activities and events designed to highlight the employer outreach activities that take place across the UK. The activities are aimed towards giving young people the chance to see the range of potential careers in tech, as well as creating new and inspiring ways for them to learn about technology.

A Tech Partnership guide to the week outlines the key aims of the scheme:

  • Being part of Tech Week is about sharing your knowledge, expertise and your enthusiasm about your organisation and the tech sector with young people.
  • Help widen the digital skills pool by encouraging the next generation of talent into tech.
  • Spread knowledge of your business and the tech specialisms within it to local young people.
  • Join employers across the UK in showing young people the benefits of joining a healthy UK digital sector.

For organisations interested in getting involved with Tech Week, the advice is as follows

  • Invite local, young people into the office and lead fun filled activities for the day
  • Visit a school, college or university and share knowledge, expertise and passion about the tech sector with young people.
  • Offer some work experience in offices for the week and show young people the benefits of joining a healthy UK digital sector.
  • Use your comms channels to help spread the word about Tech Week encouraging your clients and supply chain to take part.
