Boost teens’ basic skills knowledge and gain trillions, says report

According to a new report by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development, the UK could add trillions of pounds to its economy by boosting teenagers’ reading, maths and science skills.

The study, which looked at the potential economic gain from bringing students up to a basic level of skills in these subjects by 2030, found that currently around one in five youngsters is lacking basic abilities in these areas.
