52% of young people have “no idea” which career to follow

New statistics from AllAboutCareers.com have found that 44% of undergraduates were unable to say which industry they would like to work in when their graduate.

Over 37,000 undergraduates were surveyed as part of the research. Additionally, in a study of 1,500 school and college students, over half (52%) agreed strongly with the statement “I have no idea what to do with my career.”

Co-founder of AllAboutCareers.com, Jack Denton, said: “These are worrying statistics that emphasise the need for high quality, free and easy access to careers information for young people.”

Taking these worrying statistics into account, the website underwent a relaunch in order to meet the needs of young people and has received very positive feedback.

Jack Collins, project manager at AllAboutCareers.com, said: “We wanted to make sure we truly listened to students and created a website that fit their needs in exploring and understanding their future career. We are thrilled that the new AllAboutCareers.com has provided our valued users with just that, and that we have managed to respond with the go-to website for school leavers, students and graduates in the UK.”
