Apprenticeship interview advice from Fujitsu

Ever wondered what interviewers look for when hiring apprentices? Check out these top tips from Peter Whitehead at Fujitsu on what the company likes to see at interview stage.

  1. Communication skills:  be prepared to talk about yourself. You can talk about your academic qualifications but the company is keen to know more about you as a person, so try to think of examples of where you have worked in teams and interacted with others.
  2. Choice: the company won’t expect you to know exactly what career path you want to pursue, but you will need to show an interest in the industry and the role.
  3. Responsibility: Fujitsu places a strong emphasis on responsibility – not only to the company, but to yourselves. Give examples of experience holding positions of trust or accepting responsibility.
  4. Ask questions: the people who interview you will know a lot about the company and what it’s like to work in the profession. Test their knowledge and get a feel for learning and growing inside the company.
