Royal Mail safeguarding future of business with apprenticeships

As one of the UK’s largest employers, Royal Mail is doing its bit to target youth unemployment as well as securing the skilled employees needed for the future, through its apprenticeship and graduate programmes.

The company ran three main apprenticeship programmes in 2013, including a Vehicle Technician Apprenticeship, an Operational Management Apprenticeship for 18-24 year olds, and an Advanced Apprentice Engineer programme. Royal Mail apprentices earn around 15% more than the average UK wage for their age group.

According to The Centre for Economics and Business Research, Royal Mail’s apprenticeships have contributed £21.2 million to UK productivity since 2006.
