Apprenticeships “bridging the gap between education and work”

Integrated Payment Solutions (IPS), the leading provider of Smartcard technology to Further Education institutions, has found apprenticeships a real asset to business.

Senior partner Robert Powell said: “We’ve had difficulties in the past with recruiting young talent, so from personal experience we’ve seen that apprenticeships are a great way to bridge the gap between education and work. Schools and colleges are rarely doing a good enough job.”

IPS’s former apprentice Shakiyl Dixon has now landed a permanent role in the company. He said: “An apprenticeship is a good experience for learning, and since you have to get used to that move from education to the workplace, you may as well do it early on and in the most painless way possible.”
