Hancock reveals plans for elite vocational institutions

Skills Minister Matthew Hancock has highlighted the coalition’s commitment to vocational skills, saying that the government will introduce elite institutions dedicated to vocational learning.

Mr Hancock said apprenticeships are being reformed by the coalition and will better suit the needs of employers. Higher standards and assessments in English and maths will also make for better training. 2,000 apprenticeships will be created by a HS2 College which will ensure Britain becomes a world leader in infrastructure.

It is his aim that by 2015, every child will be in education or training.
