David Cameron pledges support for Cambridge News’ apprenticeship campaign

Prime Minister David Cameron has pledged his support for Cambridge News’ 125 Apprentices – 125 Years campaign which aims to get 125 young people on to apprenticeships to count for every year of publication.

Mr Cameron said: “There are 2,000 more people starting apprenticeships in Cambridgeshire than before the election – and I was lucky enough to meet some of them when I visited the East Anglian Air Ambulance and Medical Research Council last year.

“Apprenticeships give young people the skills they need to get on – helping them get jobs and find their way in life. As part of our long term economic plan the Government has helped an extra 1.5 million people start apprenticeships since the election and I’m very pleased to see Cambridge News and Cambridge Regional College doing their best to help us fill those places.

“I’d also like to congratulate the News on their 125th anniversary. Local newspapers are a trusted source of news all across the country, and I wish the whole team the best for the next 125 years.”
