North East cultural businesses called upon to support apprenticeship drive

Strong Voices, a Department for Education funded project, is working with Gateshead College and Sage Gateshead, to provide 10 creative apprenticeship opportunities for young people. The drive is open to all cultural businesses across the North East.

Each apprentice will be employed by a business in the creative and cultural sector for at least 12 months and will give young people the chance to progress into a longer term career in the industry.

Strong Voices programme manager Jenny Young said: “This is a fantastic opportunity. The apprenticeship has mutual benefits to the employer and the individual in that it leads to the apprentice being in a workplace doing a job that they believe they wish to follow a career in, whilst they are in a role that has been defined by the employer.”
