New campaign urges businesses to bolster their workforces with apprentices

W Academy and Education, an apprenticeship provider based in South Yorkshire, is calling for businesses to support its latest ‘New Year, New Job’ campaign to get 100 young people into employment before the turn of the year.

A recent report from the Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC) found that over two thirds of businesses in the UK are failing to offer apprenticeships in their firms. The academy believes that more businesses in South Yorkshire should be considering the apprenticeships approach in order to bolster their workforces.

Marc Wildes, managing director at W Academy and Education, said: “Apprenticeships are a vital way of improving the skills of staff and creating a committed and talented workforce. The recruitment landscape has been a difficult place in recent years due to the economic situation in the UK but taking on an apprentice is a great way to gain an extra pair of hands that could make a real difference.

“We feel that businesses in South Yorkshire are not taking advantage of this opportunity and as we currently have a pool of talented young people who are eager to succeed we want to remind them of the growing importance of apprenticeships and work with them to find the right apprentice that can make a valuable contribution for the future.”
