North West named leading region for apprenticeships

A total of 249,860 people in the North West have started an apprenticeship since 2010, government figures have revealed, making it the leading region for apprenticeships.

Over the past three years, unemployment in the North West has decreased, with a 1.7% drop among the under 25s.

Steve Corcoran, chairman of the Confederation of British Industry in the North West: “While there is still some way to go before we can state that a sustainable recovery is fully in place, investment and employment decisions – including apprenticeship schemes – give a positive and encouraging outlook.”
