Baltic Training Services releases new Project Management Apprenticeship with industry giants Capgemini in the Highlands

Capgemini, in partnership with Baltic Training Services, has designed, developed, and implemented an apprenticeship programme to create opportunities for positions in IT Project Management based in Inverness.

The apprenticeship is a key component of the future talent pool for entry level jobs and the programme will provide young adults with appropriate training and skills in addition to direct experience in project co-ordination, change management, resource capacity management, risk management and achieving a number of technical qualifications: Diploma for Information Technology & Telecommunications Professionals at SCQF Level 6 and Microsoft Professional Certifications.

The programme is also tailored to introduce apprentices to the ethos and values of Capgemini, their role as an apprentice, their responsibilities and the benefits/outcomes of the apprenticeship programme. Capgemini and Baltic Training Services have created a bespoke training programme which will prepare the apprentices to start their careers supporting various contracts within Capgemini.

Apprentices will initially spend 4 to 5 weeks with Baltic working towards the technical, theoretical elements of their apprenticeship.  Then they will be buddied up with the Capgemini training and development team to gain an understanding of Capgemini contracts, systems, processes and procedures for client project management and quality. In addition to this they will also applying their newly acquired skills and knowledge through real time practical experience of working with members of the existing team on the PMO desk.

Embedded within curriculum, the programme has created a platform to develop the soft skills of these apprentices, increasing their employability and professionalism.
