Age of Traineeships extended to 24 years old

The 24th June saw the Government announce that it will be extending the age of Traineeships from 16-19 years old to 16 – 24 years old.

Traineeships act as a high-quality work placement (between six weeks and five months) for young people looking to build on their skills and increase their chances of employment.

Focused on work preparation training and English and maths, those who embark on Traineeships are trained by employers or education and training providers rated “outstanding” or “good” by Ofsted.

Employers looking to get on board the scheme are able to tailor the Traineeships, allowing them to become more fitting with individual and local labour market needs.

The change will be applicable from 2013/14.
