Burton to host apprenticeship fair for prospective employers

Apprenticeships "have a huge potential"

Apprenticeships “have a huge potential”

Burton’s MP Andrew Griffiths has revealed that later this summer a huge apprenticeship event will take place at Burton and South Derbyshire College. The event follows last year’s success, which attracted around 2,000 people.

Mr Griffiths strongly believes that apprenticeships can not only tackle youth unemployment but also grow businesses. Firms in the area are invited to discover the benefits of apprenticeships.

He said: “Apprenticeships have a huge potential not only to give young people training and real life work experience, but also to provide businesses with low-cost access to well-trained and motivated young people who can help businesses thrive.

“This comes on the back of news that the number of businesses supporting apprenticeships is greater than ever. I want companies in Burton, big or small, to think about what a boost taking on an apprentice could provide.”
