Shortlisted candidates announced!

As reported in our article from May, The National Apprenticeship Service (NAS) recently launched a challenge for young people to create a new Facebook app or game to improve apprenticeship applications in the UK. Over the past few weeks the entries have been scrutinised by a panel of judges from the creative industries and now a shortlist of five ideas has been announced.

Each shortlisted candidate will gain GBP3,000 of funding to develop a beta of their app or game. This will be tested in June, and the winning idea will receive a total of GBP13,000 of funding and their idea will be launched in August.

Carolyn Savage, Head of Apprenticeship Vacancies for the National Apprenticeship Service and one of the judging panel said: “The judges were all impressed by the standard of the applications received. The amount of hard work and effort that had gone into the proposals was evident and there were some tough decisions to narrow down the field. What was particularly pleasing was being reminded of the creative talent that we have in our young people and I can’t wait to see the outcomes of the next stage of the competition.”
