Northampton Borough Council has teamed up with local company Starting Off to give ten young people a chance to boost their career prospects by completing a two year apprenticeship.

The apprentices will gain skills in finance, customer services, revenue and benefits. After completing their apprenticeship, the young people will be considered for full time positions at the Council.

Cllr David Mackintosh, leader of Northampton Borough Council, said: “Improving job opportunities for young people in Northampton is very important to us and this two-year apprenticeship scheme has helped several people gain qualifications and vital experience in the work place, increasing their chances of securing future employment.

“We will continue to work with external partners like Starting Off and Legal & General to provide apprenticeship schemes for post 16 students looking for an alternative route to university.”
