Highlighting the benefits of hiring apprentices

As part of Scottish Apprenticeship Week, Skills Development Scotland is calling upon employers to hire more modern apprentices, hoping to match last year’s figure of 25,000.

Over 80 events are planned to take place across Scotland, organised by firms, colleges and local authorities to raise awareness about apprenticeships and demonstrate how they can benefit the economy.

Skills Development Scotland Chairman, John McClelland, said: “The main aims of Scottish Apprenticeship Week are to show employers the tangible benefits that Modern Apprentices can bring to their businesses as well as giving people a vital start in their careers.

“I hope this week will encourage employers to offer more apprenticeship opportunities, because of the benefits apprenticeships bring to individuals, their employers’ businesses and Scotland’s economy.”
