Traineeships are due to launch in August

The Government has announced a new traineeship scheme to prepare young people for apprenticeships and full time employment, it has been reported. Due to launch in August 2013, people aged 16-19 will be eligible for a traineeship as well as those aged under 25 with Learning Difficulty Assessments.

Traineeships will last for a maximum of six months with the aim of providing young people with the skills and experience that employers are looking for. Young people will be taught in English and Maths, alongside gaining valuable work experience.

The decision to introduce traineeships follows employer feedback that many young people lacked skills or the right attitude for the workplace.
