Skills Minister supports first ever degree level apprenticeship in management accounting

CIMA

Apprentices will gain a CIMA Certificate in Business Accounting qualification.

The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), BPP and PwC are working together with leading companies to create the first ever degree level apprenticeships in management accounting, it has been reported in a recent article for Young Academic.

Apprentices will gain a CIMA Certificate in Business Accounting qualification, in addition to other valuable skills in leadership, teamwork and project management. The apprenticeship, which may be available from September 2013, has been designed by leading employers, education providers and industry associations, and tailored specifically to meet the needs of employers in the sector.

Skills Minister Matthew Hancock said: “This new degree level Apprenticeship will be fantastic for young people who want to pursue a career in management accounting but feel University isn’t for them. It will also provide a more diverse workforce for businesses that offer it. It is our ambition to make it the norm for school leavers to either go to University or to do an Apprenticeship. Higher Apprenticeships like this are crucial to making that a reality.”
