Positive Outcomes is “delighted to have created so many apprenticeship opportunities”

Positive Outcomes, a training provider in Derbyshire, has seen a rise of 60% in apprenticeship starts among 16-18 year olds, it has been reported.

The training provider hired 402 apprentices this year, compared to 248 last year. Figures show that 90% of the apprentices occupying this age group are employed full time after their apprenticeship finishes. One apprentice, 20 year-old Jack Naylor began a business administration apprenticeship at the age of 17. He is now senior claims manager at Assured Money Solutions.

Positive Outcomes managing director, Chris Longmate, said: “The penny is beginning to drop with young people and their parents that apprenticeships provide valued qualifications and the practical work-based skills that are essential in today’s employment market. After completing courses, young people can find it difficult to secure a job but, with an apprenticeship, they can be confident that they will have the skills and experience employers want.

There is still the myth that apprenticeships are only available in trades such as plumbing, bricklaying or painting and decorating but nothing could be further from the truth. There is now a huge range of apprenticeships in sectors such as IT, business, property, customer services and retail. We are delighted to have created so many apprenticeship opportunities over the last year which young people have chosen to take on and our aim is to build on this success by creating more apprenticeship opportunities and recruiting even more apprentices over the current year and beyond.”
