BBC Technology Apprenticeship open for applications

To combat the lack of technological skills in the broadcast sector, the BBC has introduced a new technology and engineering apprentice scheme, the BBC Technology Apprenticeship.

The BBC will take on 20 apprentices each year with the aim of producing 100 highly trained apprentices ready for the full time employment. The scheme will last for three years, combining academic study, industry placements and training, eventually leading to an honours bachelor degree.

The BBC’s Chief Technology Officer, John Linwood, says: “The BBC has been at the forefront of broadcasting engineering excellence over many decades. This important industry initiative is a major contribution towards helping train and develop the next generation of engineering talent, and helping the UK broadcasting industry maintain its world leading position for the future.”
