One Barnsley’s apprenticeship pledge aims to create 500 apprenticeship positions by April 2014. Employers aim to have 2.5% of their workforce in apprenticeship positions over the next year.

Some of Barnsley’s leading organisations have shown their support of apprenticeships by signing up to the scheme. These include Barnsley and Rotherham Chamber of Commerce, South West Yorkshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, Barnsley Council, and South Yorkshire Police, among others.

Barnsley College principal, Colin Booth, said, “We anticipate that more employers will sign over the next couple of weeks. Employers that sign the pledge are demonstrating their commitment to providing excellent apprenticeship opportunities within their business and their support must be commended.”
