The City of York Council recognised the contribution of York’s apprentices on Monday 18th February. This follows from the National Apprenticeship Service’s move to include the council on the employer ‘roll of honour’ on its website.

To mark the occasion, 46 apprentices employed by the council had their photo taken with the council leader Counsellor James Alexander, Counsellor Julie Gunnell and CEO Kersten England. The council will also get involved in National Apprenticeship Week, which runs from 11th to the 15th of March, with its apprentices sharing their experiences at various events.

Councillor James Alexander said: “It’s great to see that our efforts to increase the number of apprentices in York have been nationally recognised and I hope that we can continue to expand the range and number of apprenticeships offered in the city.”
