An ex-soldier who returned home with serious injuries after serving a tour of duty in the Sangin district of Helmand, Afghanistan, has just been awarded an apprenticeship in accountancy, it has been announced.

Stephen Gillespie needed the help of the profession to start an accountancy apprenticeship and his cause was championed by Accountancy Age spin-off, Taking Stock, which has now helped land him an 18 month business and administration NVQ level three apprenticeship with CPA Associates in Wigan.

Accountancy apprentices, interns and entry-level employees bring new life to accountancy firms. Offering lifelines to individuals such as Stephen or talented school leavers in need of support and training can benefit both your company and the individuals themselves.
