Marketing firm support apprenticeships

Sheffield marketing firm Business Data Prospects has employed a young apprentice, Theo Swallow, on to their team. This is the result of an apprenticeship scheme launched in 2011 by Sheffield Council which aimed to get young people in the city into employment. Pre-employment training was provided as well as a mentor to best suit his skills and abilities to certain sectors. The council part funded Theo’s wage during the first year of his employment and gave support to both business and apprentice.

Managing director of Business Data Prospects, Jane Snee, says: “We’re a small business so the council’s scheme means that we were able to take on an apprentice. Theo fitted the bill, he has learned a lot over the past 12 months.”
