Businesses battle to win apprentice team of the year

Apprentice Team

Calling all apprentice employers!

Nominations for apprentice team of the year opened today on the 13th December, to mark the beginning of the Brathay Apprenticeship Challenge backed by the National Apprenticeship Service. Businesses, training providers and colleges are all urged to get involved. Fighting to win the crown are Capgemini, Persona HR, Sellafield, Metroline, and E.ON, among others.

Smaller businesses are also invited to join in the competition by teaming up with others in their industry sector.  The nomination period ends on February 1st, and regional heats will begin over the successive months. Once the competitors have been whittled down to two, they will go head to head in an adventure challenge at the Brathay Trust’s Windermere headquarters in June.

Employee Development Manager at Cobham, Gerry Bishop, spoke of the event: “Winning the 2012 event against formidable opposition showed that our apprentices were among the very best in the country. Our apprentices are an integral part of our talent pipeline, the future of our company and indeed the whole industry. We can’t wait to defend our crown in 2013 with a new team.”
